Dyform Wire Rigging

Dyform is high-tech, low stretch wire rigging. Dyform features more than 30% increase in breaking strength over traditional 1x19 wire for the same diameter. It is approved for use with conventional swage and swageless fittings. The cross section shows how the specially shaped wires fill a greater proportion of the strand cross section.

To calculate backstay pressure (Using 14 mm forestay wire as target):

(Dyeform): Min Break strength (forestay = 42,460 lbs for Dyeform) * 25% / 1.30=backstay tension = 7,800 lbs

Split backsty => 50% per stay pressure on dial = 4,000 lbs on dial

Compared to:

(Stnd 1x 19): Min Break strength (forestay = 30000 for 1x19)) * 25% / 1.30=backstay tension = 5,800

=> 2,900 lbs on dial
